The chemical constituents of Balanophora involucrata Hook. f. include flavonoids, phenylpropanoid glucosides, triterpenoids, and sterides. Because of its benign effects,such as anti-inflammation and analgesic activity,it has been concerned by the domestic and foreign scholars. In this paper, the advances in chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of Balanophora involucrata for the past 10 years at domestic and abroad are reviewed.
