The ash composition in polypropylene(PP)resin was introduced and the major factors affecting ash content in PP resin were analyzed. The technological progresses of high purity PP resin produced directly in the polymerization reactor developed by many big companies around the world were summarized from the catalysts and polymerization processes. The advantages and disadvantages, industrialization prospects of differen t technologies were analyzed in detail. At present, the main cata-lysts for high purity PP employed by many big companies were Ziegler-Natta catalysts and the internal donors included polycarboxylic acid ester, succinate, ether, diolester and a substituted phenylene aro-matic diester. The polymerization processes were gas phase polymerization, liquid phase polymeriza-tion and supercritical polymerization. Moreover, the cocatalyst(that is, the organo-aluminium com-pound) dosage was limited strictly in these polymerization processes.
