大理寺作为宋朝中央最高审判机构，在宋代的司法运行中发挥了重要作用。宋代大理寺除了最主要的审判职能外，还有诸多其他的法治职能，诸如立法职能、监督职能、考选法官职能、监狱管理职能以及大理寺官员奉命临时办理（差遣）事务，承担着与宋代法制建设相关的其他任务，为进一步完善宋朝法治环境起了重要的推动作用。
大理寺作為宋朝中央最高審判機構，在宋代的司法運行中髮揮瞭重要作用。宋代大理寺除瞭最主要的審判職能外，還有諸多其他的法治職能，諸如立法職能、鑑督職能、攷選法官職能、鑑獄管理職能以及大理寺官員奉命臨時辦理（差遣）事務，承擔著與宋代法製建設相關的其他任務，為進一步完善宋朝法治環境起瞭重要的推動作用。
대리사작위송조중앙최고심판궤구，재송대적사법운행중발휘료중요작용。송대대리사제료최주요적심판직능외，환유제다기타적법치직능，제여입법직능、감독직능、고선법관직능、감옥관리직능이급대리사관원봉명림시판리（차견）사무，승담착여송대법제건설상관적기타임무，위진일보완선송조법치배경기료중요적추동작용。
Supreme court was the highest judicial agency in Song Dynasty, which had played an important role in the operation. In addition to the most important judicial functions, there were many other functions, such as legislative functions, oversight functions, the functions of judges.
