在很大程度上，哈尔滨是一座因中东铁路修筑而发展起来的“速成型”城市。哈尔滨开埠前后，社会风尚发生明显变化。本文以区域社会史的研究方法，从地理人文及方志见闻、报刊报道中探究审视这种变化，并从理论上阐释发生这种变化的原因。

To a large extent ,Harbin is a "speedy developing city"since the construction of the Middle East Railway .When it opened as a commercial port ,the social customs changed a lot .Based on regional social and historical methodology ,this article probes and analyzes these changes from cultural geography , chorographic stories and new spaper reports and also theoretically explores the reason of these changes .
