This paper mainly discusses about the principles and basic methods of using CMM to accurately measure the tolerance of rectan-gular spline position. The paper starts with the introduction about the value and the traditional assessment and measuring methodology of rectangu-lar spline position while emphasizing on its connection and Coordination. Then the paper illustrates the mathematical principles of rectangular spline position use by CMM while taking the rectangular spline as an example and in the end concludes with a new data processing method, with which we can assess the workpiece more effectively.
