A Geo/Geo/1 queue that handles arrivals form 2 classes of customers on a preemp-tive priority basis is considered. The queue model can be described in a quasi-birth-and-death (QBD) process with infinitely many phases. For the QBD process, the results for rate operator and joint stationary distribution are given firstly. Furthermore, the probability generating function of station-ary queue length for lower-priority customers is obtained and the property that queue length can be decomposed into the sum of two independent random variables is proved.
