随着地震勘探技术的快速发展及地震仪器的不断更新，利用地震勘探方法找煤具有非常显著的效果。以发现河南浚县新镇赋煤区为例，论述了地震勘探技术在找煤中的应用及效果，并在地震施工中对“三边”工作进行了认真研究，体现了其在施工中的重要性。本次找煤采用地震先行、钻探验证、地震指导钻探的勘查方法，在一年多的时间里，发现了储量十多亿吨的新煤田，取得了河南找矿的新突破，极大地提高了找矿效率，从而说明了地震勘探技术在找煤中具有非常重要的作用。
