Real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) was a technique of nucleic acid quantification which is developed on the basis of qualitative PCR technique. It has characteristic of strong specificity, less PCR contamination, and high degree automation. In this paper, we made an outline about present real-time PCR technology for rapid detection and diagnostic applications in bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens in the field of environmental microbiology .
