The determination methods of pesticide residues are reviewed; especially the novel sample pretreatments of recent years are summarized and discussed in this paper. High performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry has been rapidly becoming an accepted technique in pesticide residue analysis, and there is still considerable room for growth. The application of various sample pretreatments and high performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry in pesticide residues determination is given consideration.
