宋教仁的政党思想是十分丰富的，但其最为重点强调和阐明的有：政党的地位是政治之中心势力；政党形成的条件在于庞大之结合力与有系统有条理真确不破之政见；政党制度是责任内阁制下的两党制。宋教仁的政党思想也有许多积极意义：拨开了社会专制云雾，开启了中国进行政党政治运行的大门；在一定程度上有效的阻止了袁世凯帝制复辟的进程，启迪了民智，使政党思想开始融入民众之中。
