The teaching objectives of programming for non-computer specialty students and some problems in teaching and learning process of programming are introduced. In order to train students in programming thinking let them apply programming knowledge flexibly, students are guided and encouraged to design diverse algorithms for the certain questions;some concrete teach-ing cases are presented. The practice shows that the proposed method can help students grasp the essence of programming and en-hance abilities of programming.
