This paper discusses the application of OCDM in the monitoring system of passive optical network (PON),introduces the OCDM based one-dimensional (1D) coding scheme and periodic coding scheme. This paper also analyses the relationship between BER and the subscriber number, the relationship between BER and threshold value of the two monitoring schemes. Simulation results show that, compared with the 1D cod-ing scheme, periodic coding scheme has better coding features to better meet multi-user, high SNR require-ments of the current PON monitoring system.
