Physical education is a developing concept .This paper discusses the essence and function of Physical Education from different perspectives , and puts forward the point that the function of physical education is the re-alistic reflection of physical education ’ s essence based on making clear and definite on essence and attribute of physical education .Furthermore , in the process of investigating the essence and function of physical education , people really feel physical education is not only a healthy extension , but also the symbol of the culture and person-al status.
