近代安徽留学生数以千计，入选《民国人物大辞典》和《中国留学生大辞典》的319位有影响的安徽留学生，基本反映了近代安徽留学生群体的特点。即区域分布：南多北少中突出，区域分布不平衡；留学国家：美日伯仲占多数，其他国家人数少；留学专业：军政文法专业多，理工农医学科少；学历分布：欧美学历层次高，日俄文凭获得少；国内母校：省外高校占主导，毕业安徽母校少；留学学校：欧洲名校占多数，日俄普通比例高；贡献影响：军政科教有地位，经济工程稍逊色。分析构成结果表明，近代安徽留学教育是近代安徽政治、经济、文化发展的缩影，反映了近代安徽人挣脱封建束缚走向世界的历程，也反映了安徽人推动社会进步的奋斗历程。

Anhui Province had thousands of overseas students in modern times,whose group characteristics can be gener-ally featured on the basis of the composition analysis of 319 people selected in the Dictionary of Republican Characters and the Dictionary of Chinese Overseas Students.The findings are as follows:in regional distribution,more students came from the South than those from the North,with most from the central part,which is unbalanced;in destination coun-tries,America and Japan were the most favored countries;in majors,most pursued military,political,literary,and legal studies,and fewer studied science,engineering,agriculture and medicine;in the origin of degrees,most obtained diplo-mas from Europe and America,fewer from Japan and Russia;in alma maters,most graduated from higher institutions out of Anhui Province;in the destination universities,the majority studied in prestigious European schools,and higher per-centage of them in Japan and Russia;in contributions and influences,most distinguished themselves in military,political, scientific and educational fields,followed by those in economic and engineering world.The results of the analysis showed that the experiences of the overseas students of Anhui Province in modern times were a miniature of the advances in poli-tics,economy and culture,which reflected how people in Anhui broke the shackles of feudal history to embrace the world and boosted the social progress.
