吴鞠通，清代温病四大家之一，因多次经历瘟疫，也有亲人死于瘟疫，因而专心于温病的治疗研究，临床上积累了丰富的经验，创制了许多具有代表性温病方剂，极大的丰富和发展了中医学理论。其代表专著《温病条辨》附方208首，温病治法脱离了伤寒治法，确立了清热养阴大法，使理论更加清楚，成为一个独立的体系。清热养阴多以寒凉类方剂为主，现以药物的五味在寒凉类方剂中的运用为切入点来分析其用药特点。
