Based on the analysis of the armature rotating mmf of dc motor according to ac viewpoint, it was explained that the resulting mmf produced by multiphase currents with rectangular wave corresponds to that produced by three phase currents with sine wave. The clamping effect in field is always formed on condition that the phases of armature current are self-controlled. It is more complex on technique to carry out self-controlling the phases of sine-wave current, but the transvector control is an effective measure for this purpose. The clamping effect in the motor body with three phases sine-wave currents has the character of adjustable power angle or torque angle, but it is essentially different to the synchronous motor where the power angle is an independent variable.
