《潇碧堂集》是袁宏道创作历程中的一个重要过渡，过渡中一个显著的变化就是和韵诗与限韵诗数量较之以前的猛然增加。这两类诗增多，从外部来看，与文人集会和袁自身受白居易、苏轼影响有关；从内部来看，与袁宏道转变后的思想状态相关。袁宏道通过大量创作和韵诗与限韵诗，使得自己的诗艺得以锤炼和提高，《潇碧堂集》整体风格、艺术的完善与此是不可分割的。

《소벽당집》시원굉도창작역정중적일개중요과도，과도중일개현저적변화취시화운시여한운시수량교지이전적맹연증가。저량류시증다，종외부래간，여문인집회화원자신수백거역、소식영향유관；종내부래간，여원굉도전변후적사상상태상관。원굉도통과대량창작화운시여한운시，사득자기적시예득이추련화제고，《소벽당집》정체풍격、예술적완선여차시불가분할적。
The Xiao Bi Tang , a poetry anthology , is an important transition in Yuan Hongdao's process of creation , the significant change is that the number of echo blank verse and limit of blank verse suddenly increased compared with the previous . In consideration of the outside reason , it was connected with the literati gatherings and affections of Bai Juyi and Su Shi . From the point of view of internal reason , it was associated with Yuan Hongdao's state of mind after a switch . Yuan Hongdao tried to improve his writing skills through a lot of creation of these two kinds of verse and improved the style and artistic characteristics of Xiao Bi Tang set .
