Objective To investigate and compare of the effects of tow compression methods after withdrawal of needles from the out patients at the end of venous transfusion. Methods 570 out patients were divided randomly into two groups of venous transfusion, for the observation group and the control group of 285 cases. The observation group were using the minor thenar-hitting method, and the control group were using the thumb pressing method. Aching responses were observed as local pain, bleeding of needle hole and subcutaneous congestion of needle withdrawal of two groups. Results The rates of local pain, bleeding of needle hole and subcutaneous congestion were 16.1%, 4.6% and 3.9% in the observation group, and were 27.7%, 10.9% and 15.4% in the control group. Differences between the two groups was significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions It can al eviate the pain of patients, and protect vascular of patients who were used the minor thenar-hitting method after withdrawal of needles, and it can improve the success rate of vein puncture in again. This method can promote the relationship between nurses and patients, is worth popularizing.
