The new method of using 3D software CATIA to generate involute spur gear was described in this paper ,and the 3D parametric model of a gear was established .Through the f (x) to input the basic parameters of gear and the fog to input gear's involute equation ,by use of the orders in CATIA such as sketche ,mixed ,parallel curve ,to generate the accurate involute of gear , the 3D model of gear was set up .
