人文素质教育在高等教育体系中占有绝对性的基础地位。一直以来，人们对于理工科学生人文素质的培养研究较多，但调查发现，文科研究生的人文素质并不明显优于理工科学生。因此，针对文科研究生知识结构单一、知识面过窄、人文知识和人文素质没有明显优势的现状，利用中庸为学之道的博学、审问、慎思、明辨、笃行方式对文科研究生人文素质进行强化，对于深化文科专业教育、培养文科研究生创新能力、促进文科研究生全面发展、培养高层次人才具有积极的现实意义。
