The paper introduces a new acid-free descaling technique that offers environment-friendly and economical characteristic. The technique sprays the mixture of hard steel grits and water on the surfaces of strips to remove the scale effectively from the surfaces and form a high-efficiency protective film to prevent re-corrosion from happening on the surfaces. The technique features simply-operated equipment, low investment, low operation cost and good descaling effect and represents the developing trend of acid-free descaling technique for cold-rolled strips.
