The hydrophilic chain extender types, synthesizing methods and its effect on the properties of WPU were introduced. The anionic hydrophilic chain extenders were classified and introduced in details. Current resear-ches in home and abroad of the hydrophilic chain extender were reviewed and the trends in the future were prospec-ted.
