Hyphenated technique of the gas chromatography and ion mobility spectrometry has the high separation characteristic of GC and the fast response, high sensitivity of IMS. GC-IMS technique solves the low resolution capability of GC and the cross sensitivity problem when IMS was used to detect mixtures. The three dimensional spectrum results contain the retention time, drift time and signal intensity, which make the qualitative analysis more accurate. This paper mainly introduced the GC-IMS detection principle and advantages the interface implementation method and main factors,the early development problems and research status.
