The principles, characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of the various most practical advanced oxidation technologies recently, for example, Fenton oxidation, catalytic ozone oxidation, photocatalytic oxidation, electrolytic catalytic oxidation, wet air oxidation and catalytic wet air oxidation, supercritical water oxidation, and supersonic oxidation, were reviewed and the problems existing in various advanced oxidation technologies and the development tendency in the further were analyzed. It is considered that the metal-catalyzed ozone oxidation is an economic and highly efficient oxidation technology combining the advantages of both ozone’s strong oxidation ability and metal catalyzer’ easy manufacturing, high durability, no need of adding other reagents, and low operation cost, showing a good development prospect in the future.
