由于馆员素质普遍较低、服务读者的思想及观念较落后等原因，新建本科院校图书馆普遍存在忽视读者需求的不良现象。了解读者需求对新建本科院校提高读者服务工作质量具有十分重要的意义。新建本科院校图书馆只有了解读者需求，才能甄别馆藏图书资料的价值，有的放矢地选购图书资料，切实改变服务的方式方法，发展参与教研活动新功能，从而提高馆藏文献资料的利用率。

The phenomena of neglecting the needs of readers are widespread among the Libraries of New Universities because of Librarians＇ low professional quality and the backward ideas of serving readers. It is of great significance to understand the needs of readers as to improve service quality. Only by understanding the needs of readers, can library identify the value of the collections of library materials, purchase library materials properly, change service means effectively and develop new function to participate teaching and research activities, thereby enhance the use rate of the collection documents.
