analogy is commonly used in environmental impact assessment( EIA),such as in estima-tion of pollution source intensity,evaluation of cleaner production level,and selection of prediction and assessment methods,and etc. Misuse of it often took place,like the analogized objects being un-der very different circumstances,lack of introductions of the analogized objects,wrong deducted re-sults from a chain analogy,and so on. A reliable analogy should followed these tips:use the conser-vative value in choosing pollution source intensities;take more advanced technology and equipment level;two objects to be analogized are as far as possible in the same industry or region;and take the simple fundamental parameters as the analogized objects.
