莆田市于2006年开始引种檀香，通过多年的引种试验和栽培技术研究，结果表明：在闽中、闽南地区，檀香引种成功的关键是越冬问题，以龙眼为指示作物，只要龙眼能正常生长的地域就可以种植檀香；选择适宜的生态环境，3m2以上的种植台面，配置幼林期寄主、终生寄主，并加强肥水管理，可促进其速生快长、高产高效。

보전시우2006년개시인충단향，통과다년적인충시험화재배기술연구，결과표명：재민중、민남지구，단향인충성공적관건시월동문제，이용안위지시작물，지요용안능정상생장적지역취가이충식단향；선택괄의적생태배경，3m2이상적충식태면，배치유림기기주、종생기주，병가강비수관리，가촉진기속생쾌장、고산고효。
Sandalwood was introduced into Putian city, Fujian province in 2006. Studies on introduction experiments and cultivation techniques have been carried out for many years. The results showed that the key to successful introduction was overwintering problem in the middle and south of Fujian province. Usually longan could be used as a plant indicator, mean- ing that sandalwood could be planted in the regions where longan could grow regularly in winter. It needs to select a suitable ecological environment, grow on more than 3 m2-height planting platform, allocate host plants in young growth period and in lifetime. Meanwhile to strenthen scientific fertilizer and water management for its rapid growth and high yield and efficient cultivation of sandalwood.
