The global planting area of GM crops has been increasing consistently. It is believed that transgenic potato will eventually be commercialized. It is time to establish the theoretical, technical and material preparation. This paper reviewed the application field, approach the factors of the genetic transformation of the potato of the Agrobacterium, and evaluate the biosafety of transgenic potato. In the end future prospect of the potato transformation was discussed.
