人类到《诗经》时代已经摆脱了以树叶草葛遮身蔽体的蒙昧状态，既有式样各异的上衣下裳遮羞御寒，还有形形色色的礼服彰现等级规范，举凡衣领、衣袖、衣襟、衣带、蔽膝、邪幅等等，形式和称谓多种多样，从中可以看出当时人对服装的理解日益加深，工艺更趋精细，服饰装饰美化功能也更加突出。
인류도《시경》시대이경파탈료이수협초갈차신폐체적몽매상태，기유식양각이적상의하상차수어한，환유형형색색적례복창현등급규범，거범의령、의수、의금、의대、폐슬、사폭등등，형식화칭위다충다양，종중가이간출당시인대복장적리해일익가심，공예경추정세，복식장식미화공능야경가돌출。
Till the age if the Books of Songs, human beings had gotten rid of the barbaric way which people covered themselves with leaves, people not only made clothes for warm modesty, but also began to made something like full dress that shows the social classes at that time from for instance collar, arm, Chinese jacket, cross straps, knee shelter etc. The diversities of clothing patterns and names implied that people at that time had developed a deeper understanding for clothing, a more elaborated technology and ＇also knowledge of the expended function to beautify people themselves.
