通识教育从本质上说是一种对自由文化精神理解的教育,其所提倡的自由、独立、追求卓越等精神正是大学文化创新的重要基点。但是通识教育在移入我国时却变了质,不仅被窄化为一般意义的通识必修课程,而且还表现为大学通识课程对通识教育精神的偏离,致其在大学文化创新中的作用不足。为此,大学必须回归通识教育之本质,实现自由与创新的积极互动,更好地发挥其对大学文化创新的作用。
