A wood material enhanced paper honeycomb cores is produced by adding a MDF supporting batten at the bonding point of a traditional paper honeycomb core unit and then sticking the paper honeycomb core, the medium density fiberboard as well as thin and thick plywood together. A number of mechanical properties of the hollow boards made of three kinds of overlay materials are compared and their failure modes are analyzed.
