Introduction was made to the impact of photovoltaic grid-connected system on the grid and the islanding effect was picked as the research topic. Analysis was made to some commonly used passive and active methods at present. As each method has its own characteristics, one or more detection methods should be rationally selected in practice according to actual situation, in which two or more different detection methods could be used in combination to improve islanding detection results greatly. This combination method will become one mainstream of development of the islanding detection technologies in the future.
