Rich in humanism, History in Three Keys is viewed as Cohen's masterpiece. His special attention to history partici- pants' experiences and feelings and his attempts at comparative research approach to cross-culture are characteristic of marked humanism and indicative of his belief in and search for common humanity. Cohen' s historical thoughts and methods display no- table tinge of "polyphony", which separates him from those postmodernist historians whose main purpose is to deconstruct.
