Internet、分布式计算以及计算机图形学的飞速发展促使万维网地理信息系统（WebGIS）的概念由“地学数据服务”提高到“地学信息处理服务”的新阶段。不仅地学数据，它使得地学信息处理功能也可以分布在基于客户／服务器（C／S）的架构上。因此，建立较为完善的公共地理信息数据体系，实现基础信息基地的互联互通，建立“一站式”在线地理信息协同服务机制成为适时的需求。本文主要探讨了基于Web的2．5DGIS研究的意义、内容及应用，并介绍了运用2．5DGIS建设城市三维公共服务平台的一个范例。

Internet, distributed computation and computer graphics technologies make the World Wide Web Geographic Information System ( WebGIS ) upgrading the concept of "earth science data service" to "learning information processing service". Not only the geoscience data, geological information processing functions can be distributed based on client / server ( C/S the architecture ). So, to build comparatively perfect public geographic information system, to realize the basic information base interconnectivity, and to build "one-stop" online geographic information collaborative service mechanism has become the timely demand. Based on Web2. 5D GIS research meaning, this paper discusses the content, application, and introduces the application of 2. 5D GIS public service platform construction of 3D City as an example.
