自清季赵尔丰奉命治边，实施改土归流开始，西康始出现师范教育。赵氏在西康以“兴学”为“收拾边地人心第一要务”，大力发展师范教育。短短几年问，西康师范教育从无到有，蓬勃发展，遍及西康各地。民国始肇，西康师范陷入沉寂，几乎被摧毁殆尽，虽然历时甚短，但其对西康社会经济发展推动作用仍然不容忽视。一方面新式学堂广泛建立，受教育者增加，边民素质得到提高；另一方面民族间交流进一步加深，维护了边疆稳定。其历史经验、成效仍值得我们借鉴。
자청계조이봉봉명치변，실시개토귀류개시，서강시출현사범교육。조씨재서강이“흥학”위“수습변지인심제일요무”，대력발전사범교육。단단궤년문，서강사범교육종무도유，봉발발전，편급서강각지。민국시조，서강사범함입침적，궤호피최훼태진，수연력시심단，단기대서강사회경제발전추동작용잉연불용홀시。일방면신식학당엄범건립，수교육자증가，변민소질득도제고；령일방면민족간교류진일보가심，유호료변강은정。기역사경험、성효잉치득아문차감。
Since Zhao Erfeng, an official appointed by the central government, went to govern the frontier by implementing the system of bureaucratization of native officers during the late Qing, the normal education has begun in Xikang. Zhao regarded "running school" as "the top priority to win the popular support". So he strived to develop the normal education. Within a few years, Xikang normal education developed rapidly and extended all over Xikang. However, during the early years of the Republic of China, it sunk into quietness and was almost wiped out of Xikang. Though it lasted only a few years, we can't ignore the significance of the nor- mal education in promoting the economy and the society in Xikang. The historical experience and effect of nor- mal education in Xikang will be remembered for ever.
