The overview and progress of study on pine wood properties improvement all over the world were described.The study on wood properties included genetic variation of wood basic density,wood fiber morphology and the timber chemical composition and the correlation of wood properties.The strategies on pulpwood genetic improvement of Pinus massoniana were put forward.
