全椒吴氏与如皋冒氏两姓自吴国对和冒襄起世交不绝。围绕水绘园的诗歌唱和及文人风流对后世两家子弟产生极深远的影响。冒氏水绘园的人文环境及与此相关的吴家先辈的经历使得吴氏后世子弟极钟情于此,吴氏家族后期一直处于风雨飘摇中,吴敬梓从冒襄的人生道路中得到诸多启示。祖辈兴家的自豪与家业衰颓的悲伤,吴烺于水绘园中皆能找到寄托,其诗词创作中所包含的怀祖情结及衰门意绪正是家族对他影响至深之故。研究吴烺水绘园的经历与文学创作可以管窥那个时代知识分子的人生道路与思想历程,认识封建家族与封建时代文人的悲剧命运。

The friendship between WU＇s family in Quanjiao and MAO＇s family in Rugao started from WU Guo-dui and MAO Xiang.The concept of patriarchal clan system and family is like the culture gene of China,and it is the motivation for the progress of scholars in feudalistic society.Poets,odes and songs about Shuihuiyuan have profound and wide influences on descendants from both families.The humanity environment of Shuihuiyuan in Rugao and the experiences of WU＇s ancestors attract WU＇s offsprings a lot.WU Jing-zi gets a lot of enlightenment from MAO Xiang＇s life experiences,and WU Liang can resort to Shuihuiyuan for his condolence of his proud family and misfortunes.Therefore,his works present his memorial of his ancestors and his sorrow for the decline of the family.
