The comprehensive ability which engineering supervision staff should have is analyzed according to the data obtained from the selection, training, assessment and work of engineering supervision staff and the characteristics of project management, human resource management and site supervision work, and the problems to which attention should be pay and suggestions in the selection, training, management and use of engineering supervision staff are presented. It is pointed that the young technical staff who have high quality and wide knowledge should be selected as engineering supervision workers, and the training and leaning opportunity is given to them. Old experienced engineering supervision workers should help them to grasp the knowledge in engineering supervision man- agement and to rapidly grow up. The related techniques and experience should be paid attention in the selection of engineering supervision staff.
