It was screened out sunflower varieties that suitable for hilly arid land cuhivation in western Henan were MeiguoG101,Kangdi 5,Ruishigaoyou 5,Aokui 2,Aokui4 etc. The reasons of blighted grain formation were revealed, including big planting density, lack of water supply, lack of fertilizer and so on. Technical measures to reduce tile blighted grain were put forward. Then, introduced four planting patterns and key techniques for scientific application of fertilizers and increasing fertilizer use efficiency.
