Based on the current situation of the faculty construction in private colleges, this essay expounds the main content of the expectancy theory and analyzes its guidance on the faculty construction. In detail,this essay suggests appropriately handling the relationships between individual endeavors and individual performance, performance and rewards, rewards and individual needs as well as proposing that the private colleges be governed by the rule of law rather than by the rule of man, to enhance the teachers＇ initiative and sense of belonging.
