现代性作为源于启蒙理性的一个重要概念，具有强烈的怀疑、批判精神和反思精神，以及永远面向未来、不停滞于当下的特征。在时代发展的进程中，其内涵不断地更新。它自身所具有的反思和自反性，使现代性观念在发展过程中不断地否定自我、超越自我，克服自身矛盾的存在状态而不断地获得新的血液，得以启迪现世，惠及未来。
