Xu Can, a female talent in the south of the Yangtze River, wrote her rhymed verses with deep e- motion about the torn--out nation and undulating experience from the perspective of social upheaval and her frustrated life. Those rhymed verses directly described the historical tragedies, great changes in society and her inner world struggles during the transformation age from the Ming dynasty to the Qing dynasty. What is more, the emotions out of certain events were revealed fully with a wide knowledge ancient and modern together with her deep insight. Accordingly, rhymed verses can, evidently, reflect the nature, mourn with deep grief, show profound conception and style in depressing but fresh as well as elegant tone, hence, they made a breakthrough concerning females~ delicate feeling. They used to live in chambers, meanwhile, manifesting dignified man--like style blended with reasonable situations and historical masterpieces in lifelike manner.
