It is summarized that wireless data transmission technologies used in petroleum industry can be divided into conventional wireless data transmission and wireless data transmission of drilling information. Then two outlooks are presented in the paper, one is that combining the short distance wireless data collection with remote wireless data transmission can realize the real-time monitoring for the parameters in drilling site; the other is that studying a new drilling pipe joint of acoustic wireless data transmission can over- come the energy attenuation and increase the distance of acoustic transmission.
