面对三网融合的巨大挑战特别是互联网的激烈竞争，广电网络处于劣势地位，如何打破僵局开拓新的应用困扰着每一位从业者。在双向业务的开拓中，供电远程抄表是一项投资小、收益期长、不占用出口带宽的优质项目，与广电入户率高、无出口带宽的行业特点相匹配，且属于电力行业智能电网建设范畴，近期将投入大规模应用。基于有线电视双向化网络，引入物联网技术，为供电行业对居民用电远程抄表、开合电、电网运行监测等提供双向解决办法，为应对竞争提供了一种有效的措施。
