N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) is an important fine chemical product. The domestic and foreign market of NVP has been reviewed in this paper. There are three synthesis process of NVP , namely the acetylene, catalytil dehydration and pyrrolidonc synthesis process. Based on above analysis and comparison of the reaction course, cata- lyst species, products selectivity and raw materials conversion rate of above process, a suggestion to accelerate the development of NVP production technology in china has been proposed.
