该文突破了以往特写写作集中论述营造“现场感”、“形象感”和“镜头感”的局限，指出新闻特写的一种新视角，并将特写写作过程归纳为七组共十四个“四字”口诀。七组口诀分三部分：第一步部分是说对“镜头”的捕捉，第二部分是说对“镜头”的拓展，第三部分是说对“镜头”的截取和衔接。
