This paper discusses the innovation in the course of Fundamentals of Mechanical Design, i.e. overlooking the teaching material with an innovative point of view, seeking for the law, teaching students how to learn, focusing on the key points, and cultivating students' innovative thinking and creative ability. Based on the characteristics of the course, it is necessary to integrate theory into engineering practice and real life, and to mix learning with working in order to strengthen students' ability of analyzing and solving problems.
