运用调查、访谈、文献资料调研、逻辑与统计分析等方法,对四川省高校高水平运动队基本现状、存在的问题、解决的方式、未来的走向等进行了研究。研究表明,近几年,四川省高校高水平运动队有了很大的发展,但仍存在制约其长足发展的突出矛盾与问题。从体育大国向体育强国迈进过程中,四川省高校高水平运动队的发展应当根据我国体育体制改革的总体发展目标与趋势,结合四川省特殊的经济、社会、体育发展实际,确立培养＂健康、全面发展的高水平运动员＂的目标定位,选择＂多元化＂的培养模式。为此,四川省高校高水平运动队要以调整＂体、教结合＂为突破口,鼓励支持多种力量开展培养工作,努力建成符合四川省实际情况的后备人才培养体制和运行机制,将竞技体育后备人才培养由单一学校途径向重点依托社会、企业方向转变,最终实现高校高水平运动员培养的＂多元主体＂发展模式。
