A finite element analysis method was introduced for telescopic arm of a hook loader. The initial structure of telescopic arm was established and the finite element analysis was made for it in using UG software. By analyzing the stress figure, the areas is gradually improved when the stress analysis does not satisfy and realizes the optimization in structure of telescopic arm, and a theoretical basis was provided for thc optimization of entire hook loader.
