陕北面塑有别于其他地方的民间艺术。在造型方面它更加夸张抽象，线条刚劲有力，轮廓极度粗放，有独特的审美价值和艺术震撼力量。从寓意方面看，它是人类祈福纳祥，祭祀神灵祖先，表达美好愿望的生活追求。而透过艺术表象所呈现给我们的却是，它是原始人类生殖崇拜思想的流露。

협북면소유별우기타지방적민간예술。재조형방면타경가과장추상，선조강경유력，륜곽겁도조방，유독특적심미개치화예술진감역량。종우의방면간，타시인류기복납상，제사신령조선，표체미호원망적생활추구。이투과예술표상소정현급아문적각시，타시원시인류생식숭배사상적류로。
Dough models in Northern Shaanxi differs considerably from other places＇folk art. With more exaggerative and abstract in its modeling with its lining bold and vigorous, outlining extreme- ly extensive, unique forces of aesthetic value and artistic convulse power. Observing via its impli- cation, the art represents human＇s fortune blessing, offering sacrifices to Gods, expressing prom- ised land for futuristic living. Yet via the external artistic image , the art exposes a reveal of primi- tive human＇s worship for reproduction.
